About Me

I’m an illustrator and surface designer creating warm, playful artwork with plenty of personality. My style aims to be polished enough for grown-ups, playful enough for kids, and never too serious.

Before having kids and falling in love with illustration and surface design, I worked in graphic design, branding, and marketing — a background that still shapes the way I approach my work. I’m always thinking about how artwork will live beyond the page, whether that’s on a product, across a collection, or as part of a larger brand.

I love building little worlds through my illustrations and patterns and hiding little details in each. It’s the kind of artwork that makes a product, place, or brand feel a little more special.

I love building little worlds.

The things I’m most drawn to are probably quite ordinary to other people — a neighborhood shop with a great striped awning, an antique cake display stand, an old garden gate, fall geese flying out of the valley, the sweet old neighborhood dog who thinks he runs the place.

Those little details tend to be where my ideas start. I pull them apart, simplify them, add a little color and personality, and build them into illustrations and patterns that feel familiar and comfortable, without becoming predictable.

I especially love creating artwork that has a sense of place or story behind it. Something you can look at for a second longer and keep finding little things to enjoy.

When I’m not drawing…

I live in the greater Seattle area with my husband, our two kids, and an unreasonable number of animals.

When I'm not drawing, you'll usually find me homeschooling my kids, working in my garden, exploring the great Pacific Northwest, tackling some overly ambitious house or yard project, or noticing something mundane and thinking, ‘oh, I should draw that!’

Real life sneaks into my work constantly, which is probably why there are so many animals, treats, snacks, gardens and preserves, shops, and little bits of whimsy wandering around in my portfolio.
